Meet OurTeam: Monica Zabala
Monica joined us at Optimus in May this year, bringing her 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, into the role of Project Engineer and Proposals Coordinator. Her passion for chemical engineering was inspired by her family, having been brought up surrounded by oil & gas professionals
"I always wanted to know exactly ‘what happens, processes, chemicals reactions’ involved so it was easy to see Chemical Engineering as the right choice for me, as I was also interested in the development of new technologies, optimising energy usage, etc."

How would you describe your job in three words?
Diverse, dynamic and challenging
What do you love most about what you do?
Projects are always different, so we are constantly learning which is something important for me. Also, the feeling that I can contribute to the successful completion of a project in many ways, not only from technical point of view but also supporting inter-discipline agreements and understanding to achieve a common goal, is something I really enjoy doing.

What was the most unusual job you've had?
Once I worked as a freelancer preparing demographic studies, to assess how a city had grown for 20 years, analyse population segments (by age, sex, etc), check consumption patterns, forecast population growth and future demand for certain goods and services based on such growth (nothing related to engineering, for sure!)
Do you have any pets?
Not now. But I might consider it when I live in a house
If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would it be?
I think Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and Leonardo da Vinci would be in the top 3 of my list.
